Year of the Dog - Bad Taste

With lively brass and an up-beat groove, Indie-Ska band, Year of the Dog (led by RWCMD composition student, Felix Lindsell-Hales) are set to debut their album, ‘Bad Taste’ in the Atmospheres Festival, Friday May 1. Having already been featured on Netflix’s critically and commercially acclaimed, Sex Education, as well as playing in popular festivals like Boomtown and Noz Stock, we are certainly very excited to be launching their new album at Atmospheres!

Talking about Atmospheres and the release of 'Bad Taste’, Felix said, “I’m looking forward to seeing everybody else’s work because you see everybody pretty much every day, but you don’t see what they’re getting up to, so it’s quite mysterious and exciting...and just to show what I’ve been doing. Basically, I’ve been kind of a recluse for 3 or 4 months working on it, so I get to put it out into the big, wide world!” Elaborating on his creative process, Felix describes birthing each song from simply playing around on his guitar, “and like seeds into plants they grew too intricate and complex to fit in my brain...that’s when I start recording.”

This album promises to exhibit a lot more poignancy, grit and soul than Year of the Dog’s previous music and includes plenty of impressive solos and intelligent lyricism. Felix, who plays guitar and sings in the band, describes previously feeling that his band’s music wasn’t sophisticated enough to submit as his final project. We’re certainly glad he changed his mind!
